Improving On Lateness
I have a little issue with being on time. I’ve always been ten minutes late, no matter how hard I try, how early I start to get ready or how many minutes fast I set the clock. I don’t like being late, but ten minutes isn’t really that bad. Is it? Especially since I’m improving on my lateness.
I frequently travel back and forth between Arizona and the East Coast, and I’ve been arriving at the airport to check in an hour early (okay, I admit that sometimes it’s closer to fifty minutes – if I’m running late…). Of the last fifty flights I’ve taken, I’ve had one flight that departed and arrived on time. Mostly I’ve been re-routed, put up in a hotel overnight, sent to another airline, or waited hours for the next available flight. The airlines have deposited me at my destination anywhere from three to thirty hours late.
So when you look at my ten-minute issue, it pales in comparison, especially since I’m actually improving on my lateness by being less late. In fact, it seems that the airlines are improving on their lateness too. They are getting better at being later.
